HOW DO I REFILL OR ORDER NEW PRESCRIPTIONS?

For refills, please call the pharmacy at (858) 560-1911. For new prescriptions, please present the physician’s written prescription to the pharmacy, or you may ask the physician to send the prescription directly to us.

HOW TO ADDRESS YOUR QUESTIONS & CONCERNS

WHAT TO DO IF A DRUG YOU’RE TAKING IS RECALLED

If the recall involves a prescription drug, call your doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible to find out if a replacement is needed. The pharmacist will contact your doctor with medication alternatives if any exists.

 

HOW CAN I ACCESS MEDICATIONS IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY OR DISASTER?

If the event of a natural disaster or state emergency, contact your prescriber immediately to arrange a prescription or if necessary go to the emergency room. If this isn’t possible, you may be able to get medicine from a pharmacist in an emergency and under the pharmacist’s discretion. Call the pharmacist for more information.

 

HOW TO OBTAIN MEDICATION NOT AVAILABLE AT THE PHARMACY

Medications are important to treat your condition or keep you healthy. However, some drugs are in very short supply in the U.S. If one of the drugs you are currently taking isn’t available, the pharmacist will contact another local pharmacy to check if they have the specific medication in stock. If none can be found, the pharmacist will work with your doctor to select another drug that can treat you just as well.

HOW TO HANDLE ADVERSE REACTION.

Everyone reacts to medications differently. One person may develop a rash while taking a certain medication, while another person on the same drug may have no adverse reaction. Whether allergic or not, reactions to medications can range from mild to life-threatening. Call your doctor if you have side effects that concern you, or you suspect a drug allergy has occurred. If your symptoms are severe, seek medical help immediately.

 

WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO DISPOSE OF MEDICATIONS?

1.) Pour medication into a sealable plastic bag. If medication is a solid (pill, liquid capsule, etc.), add water to dissolve it.
2.) Add kitty litter, sawdust, coffee grounds (or any material that mixes with the medication and makes it less appealing for pets and children to eat) to the plastic bag.
3.) Seal the plastic bag and put it in the trash.
4.) Remove and destroy all identifying personal information (prescription label) from all medication containers before recycling them or throwing them away.

HOW CAN I TRANSFER A PRESCRIPTION FROM ANOTHER PHARMACY TO FROST MEDICAL PHARMACY?

It’s easy. Call or stop by Frost Medical Pharmacy and request a transfer of a prescription. Provide the name of the pharmacy along with phone number and medication you want to transfer and our pharmacist will do the rest.

 

INFORMATION ON PRESCRIPTION SUBSTITUTIONS

Pharmacist may select another drug product with the same active chemical ingredients of the same strength, quantity, and dosage form, and of the same generic drug name. Drug product selection is within the discretion of the pharmacist. In an effort to save you cost, the pharmacist will dispense the generic drug unless you specify otherwise.
